A Brief Overview

Publishing to Your Website(s)

All records must be approved before they will be displayed on your website. You can either approve the record for everyone or if you have a password protected area of your website you can set group specific permissions to limit who views this record.

A Word about Categories

Categories are the primary way a record is mapped to one or more website apps. Each category is mapped by the designer to one or more apps on your primary and/or secondary website(s). In turn, when you assign a record to a category it is then placed on the respective page(s) of your website(s). This helps to simplify the process of publishing a record without having to remember all the pages it should be assigned to.

A Word about Advanced Options

Advanced settings are dependent on the settings for each app and/or category. They may not have an effect on some displayed apps due to the configuration of the app.

Promote Record

Promoting a record tells Orange Seed to treat this record differently in certain configurations, allowing it to have more exposure within your websites. Orange Seed may be list this record first, or it may be the only one displayed on a home page. They may even have catching eye candy to bring these records to the users attention. How a promoted record is displayed is dependent on the designers configuration of the app.

Tags

Tags allow you to further categorize a record that doesn't fall into defined categories. They are used by various apps for searches when enabled.

Buoyancy

Buoyancy allows you to adjust how this record will be placed in on your website. This attribute does not sort the values as much as add a weighted importance value on the record. The more negative the number, the lighter it is in the list and the higher in the list it will be displayed. It is important to note that over time the item will fall to it's normal level of zero. Adjust the slider to place the record toward the top or bottom. Set to zero to sort normally. If you want a record to always be at the top, set the slider to -30. Alternatively, if you want a record to always be at the bottom, set the slider to 30.

Publishing: Step-by-step guide

Please note that a record is only published when the the following have been completed

  1. A group of users or all users are assigned to view the record

  2. One or more categories or related content (when available) is assigned to the record.

  1. Click on “Content” > “<CHOOSE APP>” in the main navigation

  2. Click on the record to edit, and Click on the “Edit” link.

  3. Click on the “Publish” tab.

  4. Click on the “Allow Everyone to View this Record” button to allow the record to be displayed on the website or select a group using the “add group” button.

  5. Click on one or more categories on the left to move them to the “assigned categories” on the right.

  6. Set any of the advanced options as needed.

  7. Click the “Save” button at the top of the page to save the record.

To remove a record from the website without deleting it, you can simply click on the red “Remove Rule” button next to the rule under “Assign Permissions” and click “save” to save the record.
