Create and Update Menus
A Brief Overview
In Yoga CMS, menus are not directly attached to any pages or URL. This means that you are free to create your menu structure as you see fit. It also means that when you create a new page, a navigation link is NOT automatically created.
Create & Update: Step-by-step guide
Click on “Website” in the main navigation
Click on the “Configure” link within the website that you want to edit
Click on “Pages & Menus”
Click on the menu system that you want to edit, and click the “edit” link.
NOTE: Most often the main navigation is labeled “Default” navigation.Click on “New Menu Item” in the left navigation
Menu Tab
Enter a label or title in the “Label” field
Enter a unique key in the “Item Key” field
Select the page that you want to link to in the site in the “Link to Page” drop down field.
NOTE! If you want to link to another website, you can choose “Link to URL” and enter the URL in the “URL” field. You must include the “https://” in the field.Select the target (same window, new window) in the “Target” field.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend that if you are linking to a page in your website, that you use the “Same Window” option. If you are linking to an external website page, we suggest using the “New Window” option.
Menu Item Placement
You can choose where you want your new menu item to be placed within the navigation by making it relative to another menu item. There are four position choices.
Before - Place the menu item before the selected menu item in the “Menu Item” drop down to the right.
After - Place the menu item after the selected menu item in the “Menu Item” drop down to the right.
First Child of - Make the menu item the first child of the selected menu item in the “Menu Item” drop down to the right.
Last Child of - Make the menu item the first child of the selected menu item in the “Menu Item” drop down to the right.;
Please note that if you place a menu item before or after a selected child menu item, the new menu item will also be a child of that same parent.
You can also choose a block within the menu navigation if available. This only affects parent menu items. Typically you would select “Main”
Publish Tab
All pages must be approved before they will be displayed on your website. You can either approve the page for everyone or if you have a password protected area of your website you can set group specific permissions to limit who views this page.
Click on the “Allow Everyone to View this Record” button to allow the record to be displayed on the website or select a group using the “add group” button.
To remove a menu item from the website without deleting it, you can simply click on the red “Remove Rule” button next to the rule under “Assign Permissions” and click “save” to save the menu item.
